APSCUF's Committee for Action through Politics (APSCUF/CAP) is the political voice for APSCUF faculty and coaches. Since its inception in 1981, CAP has assisted faculty and coaches in making informed political decisions. CAP is a nonpartisan organization that supports candidates who will advocate for APSCUF's goals and priorities. To find out more about APSCUF/CAP, download the CAP brochure.
March Madness: Dues Rebate Campaign
The 2013 Dues Rebate Campaign is underway and this is your official invitation to participate if you haven’t already signed your dues rebate card. But hurry! The drive will close on April 1, 2013. Your support is especially critical, considering the budgetary and legislative challenges we currently face as those on the frontline delivering quality public higher education in the Commonwealth.
Completing an official Dues Rebate Card to direct your $25 rebate to the APSCUF/CAP fund is the first step you need to take to help APSCUF protect your interests. We thank the majority of our members that have already signed up to allow APSCUF/CAP to keep a small portion of the dues deducted to support our lobbying and political endorsement activities.
CAP donations are needed because APSCUF dues cannot be used for political contributions. Contributions allow APSCUF to support our endorsed allies in the general assembly and statewide offices. These contributions provide vital access to legislators.
In 2011-2012 biennium, APSCUF/CAP contributed over $272,000 statewide to elected officials. Our contributions have influenced close races and, perhaps more importantly, earned us close relationships with legislators on both sides of the aisle. We need to make our 2013-14 goal of $300,000 with your support, especially with an important gubernatorial race in 2014!
Wondering why you should donate to CAP?
When you contribute to APSCUF/CAP, you become involved in the political process. Your CAP donations support candidates for state office who will advocate for public higher education and have strong records on labor, education, and budget issues.
